Barbara Amiel was born in the UK in 1940 and dragged reluctantly to Canada in 1952. She returned to London in 1985 and left, again reluctantly, in 2005.
Educated at North London Collegiate School which she never wanted to leave fearing adult life would be as difficult to navigate as it turned out to be, she completed her education at University of Toronto. The first woman to edit a major Metropolitan daily newspaper in North America, on returning to London she was political columnist for The Times, Sunday Times and The Daily Telegraph. Winner of the Mystery Writers of America Edgar Award for By Persons Unknown, her latest book is “Friends and Enemies” which has lived up to its title.
