Covid Safety Measures and Entry Requirements

We look forward to welcoming you to this year’s Cliveden Literary Festival. For your reassurance and to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience we have taken the following measures to enhance the covid-security of our venues:

Entry requirements

We request that you provide proof of a negative lateral flow test (taken within 24 hours). You can order your lateral flow tests (which are free of charge) via the government website or collect a free test kit from most high street pharmacies. Your test result must be registered and acknowledged via the official government website. The result can then be shown via the NHS app on your smartphone, via text message, or printed hard copy. Please do not bring the actual test with you.

There will be a checkpoint located in the Festival car park if you are arriving by car and taking the shuttle, and a checkpoint at the entrance if you are arriving by taxi or have reserved parking on the Grand Avenue. If for any reason you are unable to take the lateral flow test beforehand, there will be limited testing available at the checkpoints.

Please do not attend the Festival if you have any Covid symptoms, such as a high temperature, a new continuous cough or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste. If you are unable to attend due to having a positive test result or having to isolate, your ticket can be refunded, transferred to a friend or rolled over to 2022.

At the Festival

For your protection, we suggest that face coverings are worn (unless exempt) in all indoor spaces, including in the Main House, the marquees (Arts Club Stage, Festival Food Tent & Screening Room and Box Office) and the Bookshop. We will not be arranging socially distanced seating in either of the stages to allow as many as possible to see each session.

We also request that you wear a face covering when travelling on the shuttle transport to and from the car park. Face coverings can of course be removed for eating and drinking while seated, but we ask that you keep them on during sessions.

Hand sanitiser stations will be located in all the main areas – please do make use of them.

Rooms will be ventilated between sessions, but doors will be closed during the talks to minimise sound disturbance. We will also be cleaning between sessions so we ask that you assist us by leaving the room promptly at the end of each session and taking all your personal belongings (and any rubbish) with you to allow us to do this as efficiently as possible.

Our team

The Event team and all the contractors working at Cliveden will take daily antigen tests. We will also be wearing face coverings where appropriate and complying with the same hygiene rules as our guests.

We appreciate these are still unusual times and thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.
