James McAuley is a writer and journalist based in New York. He is the author of The House of Fragile Things, which won the National Jewish Book Award in 2022. He served as Paris correspondent for The Washington Post and currently writes for the Post’s editorial board, in addition to publications such as The New York Review of Books, Liberties, and The New Yorker. James graduated from Harvard and received his D.Phil. in history from Oxford, where he was a Marshall scholar.
