Eugene Rogan is Professor of Modern Middle Eastern History at the University of Oxford. He is a Fellow of St Antony’s College and Director of the Middle East Centre. He was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 2017. He is author of The Arabs: A History (Penguin, 2009, 2nd ed. 2017), The Fall of the Ottomans: The Great War in the Middle East (Penguin, 2015), and most recently, The Damascus Events: The Christian Massacre and the Destruction of the Old Ottoman World (Penguin, 2024). His books have been translated in 19 languages.
