Anne Somerset’s latest work is Queen Victoria and her Prime Ministers: a Personal History, hailed by Jane Ridley in The Times Literary Supplement as ‘a marvellous book, formidably well researched and beautifully written’. Her other books include a biography of Elizabeth I that was acclaimed on both sides of the Atlantic and Ladies-in-Waiting: from the Tudors to the Present Day. Her study of the mysterious death of Sir Thomas Overbury, Unnatural Murder: Poison at the Court of James I was shortlisted for the Crime Writers’ Association Gold Dagger for non-fiction. In 2013 Queen Anne: the Politics of Passion was awarded the Elizabeth Longford Prize for Historical Biography.
