Andrei Soldatov is a Russian investigative journalist, and editor of Agentura.ru, a watchdog of the Russian secret services’ activities. He has been covering security agencies and terrorism in Russia since 1999.
He is co-author with Irina Borogan of The New Nobility. The Restoration of Russia’s Security State and the Enduring Legacy of the KGB (PublicAffairs, 2010), The Red Web: The Kremlin wars on the internet (PublicAffairs, 2015) and The Compatriots: The Russian exiles who fought against the Kremlin (PublicAffairs, 2021).
Soldatov lives in exile in London: since the start of the war, he has been on the wanted list of the Russian authorities.
