Alexandra Suich Bass is The Economist’s Culture editor, overseeing the paper’s books, arts and entertainment coverage. Previously, she served as senior correspondent for politics, technology and society, covering a range of political and public-policy topics, and as U.S technology editor in San Francisco, among other roles. She started writing for The Economist in 2008, and has also published articles with Slate, the Chronicle of Higher Education, Newsweek International, and the Nation. She graduated from Yale, where she studied history and African studies.
